MAY 25

We’re in Florida for the wedding of a good friend of mine’s son. I don’t know about you, but packing for such an event is hard for me. To make it doubly hard, we flew down here. You know what that means. The airline has a weight limit for your luggage, plus I had to bring basically two suits. I’m thankful for my good friend Jeff Drum who gave me tips on how to get everything in a suitcase. I would never have thought you could get all your dress clothes in a carry on and they arrive wrinkle free. I have to admit, I’m an overpacker. I like to have my stuff with me when I travel.

There are a lot of you out there who are overpackers in life. There’s way too much luggage and things you’re carrying around in your life. For some of you it is guilt. You’re still hanging on to something you did or said years ago. Maybe you’ve overpacked in the area of forgiveness. No matter what you do, you can’t seem to forgive someone or yourself from past indiscretions. Remember, don’t have a higher standard of forgiveness than God. Whatever you’re lugging around in life, don’t you think it’s time to let go of a few things.

There’s a great book out there by Max Lucado entitled: “Traveling Light.” It’s a great resource for helping one get rid of some ugly things in your life. I just thought about it as I was writing this post. Life is much better and sweeter when we get rid of those unnecessary weights and baggages we’re trying to carry. Don’t you want to finally lay them down? Today may be that day. Godspeed my friends.
