Who We Are

Pleasant Hill Baptist Church is a warm and loving congregation which welcomes all people from all walks of life. Our goal is to love God and people.

Our Goals

  • To be a dynamic spiritual organism empowered by the Holy Spirit to share Christ with as many people as possible in our church, community, and throughout the world.

  • To be a worshiping fellowship, experiencing an awareness of God, recognizing his person, and responding in obedience to his leadership.

  • To experience an increasingly meaningful fellowship with God and fellow believers.

  • To help people experience a growing knowledge of God and Humanity.

  • To be a church which ministers unselfishly to individuals in the community and the world in Jesus' name.

  • To be a church whose purpose is to be Christlike in our daily living by emphasizing total commitment of life, personality, and possessions to the lordship of Christ.

HISTORY

Pleasant Hill Baptist Church was declared a regular constituted church in December 1853. The church body began with six people, who presented church letters to become the first members, in a schoolhouse near the present site of the church. A wood frame building was constructed in 1870, a brick auditorium in 1952, and a larger auditorium in 1967. In 1975 two worship services were required on Sunday mornings. A beautiful new sanctuary was dedicated in 1984 and renovated in 2003. The New Sanctuary that we worship in now was dedicated in 2017 after a tornado destroyed the Sanctuary in the year 2014. The Family Life Center was completed in 2000 and is used for children's activities, fellowship meals and Sunday School classes.

At least 18 men have been licensed to preach the Gospel of Jesus and/or ordained to Christian ministry at Pleasant Hill.

From humble beginnings of 6 members in a school house, Pleasant Hill has grown to a membership of over 700 with five buildings to be used in service to the Lord.
